Hosting and Directing our bi-weekly Design Share for 600+ designers

Unlocking insights across your org

When you have one of the largest design organizations in the world, how do you use it to your advantage?

What started as a small tradition needed to evolved into something bigger as we went from 20 to 400 designers in 4 years.

What I did

Re-focused

I ask our VP of design for Cloud, Data, and AI, our head of DesignOps, Director of AI Applications, and the previous host why we did Design Shares. They all had great answers. And they all had different answers...

I synthesized their comments, existing research, and re-focused the why behind Design Shares to balance out our portfolio of engagement programs across the org.

Re-branded

People want to be excited about coming to work. My users are designers and designers want great experiences like the rest of us. Creating videos like the one above helped solidify the value in working for a company that gives time for designers to connect

Re-energized

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Why do we do Design Shares?

If we don’t know why we’re doing something, it’s hard to deliver on it at scale and to measure what matters. For Design Shares, giving it a re-branded focus allowed us to better serve our audience of designers in Cloud, Data, and AI.

Leverage existing research

Reaching out to existing leads and following the trail like a detective. I found others had asked similar questions already. This is especially important in larger organizations to prevent redundant work and save time.
